Writing

I enjoy the process of writing; of finding new ways to tell old stories and although I am not yet published, I am seeking representation for the range of short stories and dramas for children and adults that I’ve created.

Years of writing copy for brochures, letters and other forms of communication to a variety of target audiences, has hopefully resulted in a strong understanding of language and how it can be used in different ways to achieve different outcomes. Some examples of recent thoughts and musings are here in my blog.

I write for children and for adults, I have pieces that are suitable for:

o young readers and their families to read together at home – an example of this is Bottom’s dream [illustrated by Clare Booth]
o general audiences to participate in as full-scale productions onstage
o specialist listeners to hear on the radio
o use in an educational or training setting: classroom resources; training manuals; policies and procedures
o development into TV scripts
o I regularly write reviews for Alt_Blackpool, an arts-based website that hosts articles and galleries about activities which take place in Blackpool

I have recently had an article published in Home Childcarer Magazine about the rising popularity of theatre aimed at under 5s – you can read it here
